 Action Shots

Capturing the Energy  of  Pets on Your Phone

You don't need an expensive professional camera to photograph your dog running after ta ball or catching a freesby. With new technology, you can now capture dynamic photographs of your pets right from your phone. Here are some tips to help you capture the energy and agillity of your pets using your smartphone.

  • Anticipate the Action:

Observe your dog's behavior and anticipate their movements to capture the action at the right moment. Pay attention to their body language and familiarize yourself with their play or exercise patterns.
  • Enable Burst Mode or Continuous Shooting:

Most smartphone cameras have a burst mode or continuous shooting feature. Activate this mode to get a series of images. Burst mode increases your chances of capturing the perfect action shot and freeze frame.
  • Use the Built-in Action or Sports Mode:

Some smartphone cameras have dedicated action or sports modes. These modes optimize the camera settings for capturing fast-moving subjects. Activate the action mode to ensure faster shutter speeds and better focus tracking.
  • Keep Your Phone Steady:

Stability is crucial when capturing action shots. Hold your phone with both hands, or consider using a smartphone tripod or stabilizer for even better stability. Minimize camera shake to ensure sharp and clear action shots.
  • Tap to Focus:

Take control of your smartphone camera's focus by tapping on the screen to focus on the pet. Ensure that the pet's face or the area of interest is in focus for sharper and more engaging action shots.
  • Use Burst Mode for Motion Tracking:

When using burst mode, keep the pet within the frame and track their movement by panning smoothly. This technique allows you to maintain focus on the pet while capturing their action sequence.
  • Make use of Natural Light:

When possible, use natural light for action shots to ensure better image quality and faster shutter speeds. Shoot outdoors or in well-lit areas to avoid motion blur and capture crisp action shots.
  • Experiment with Composition:

Explore different angles and perspectives to add variety and creativity to your action shots. Get down to the pet's level or experiment with different vantage points to capture unique and engaging photographs.
  • Editing Tools and Apps:

Enhance your action shots using editing tools and apps like Snapseed, VSCO, Lightroom mobile. Adjust brightness, contrast, and sharpness to enhance the impact of your photographs further.
  • Practice and Patience:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Capturing action shots requires practice and patience. Don't be discouraged if you miss a shot; keep practicing and you will get better.

So, grab your phone, head out with your pets, and HAVE FUN!
